God called me into ministry in 1990, and I rejected His call. God doesn’t give up! He has pursued me gently but relentlessly all these years. Now that my youngest child is leaving for college, it is time to begin answering God’s call by writing about my observations of God in every day life. I will also share my life journey, including my struggle with my calling. I am not a Biblical scholar, pastor, or expert on God. I’m just a regular person trying to make sense of God’s presence in my life by writing about my thoughts and experiences.
Starting a blog as a Christian ministry seems weird, I know. Especially for a fifty-something, not completely tech savvy person. But, if I have learned anything over the years, it is that when God plants a seed He will water it and it will grow. Hopefully, you will enjoy reading what I write. Perhaps through this blog you will feel inspired to take a step closer to God yourself.
I spent my childhood in Illinois (aka The Middle of Nowhere) but consider Wilmington, North Carolina home. I studied English at THE University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Business at East Carolina University, and work in Finance for the North Carolina public school system. Pine Valley United Methodist Church is a huge part of my life. I enjoy cooking, wine and unique beers, the beach, camping, and music of every kind. I hold a black belt in Isshin-ryu karate and enjoy the mental, spiritual, and physical growth inspired by studying martial arts. My two daughters, Caitlin and Ashlee, are the best things that ever happened to me. I have been married to my best friend Charles for 29 years and couldn’t ask for a better life partner.
